BOOK COVERS

For this project, I was tasked with the creation of book jackets, originally just one, but expanded upon to two designs. Any book was on the table for this creation but I wanted to design with a similar theme with my books to have a take on a similar theme set betwix two different books.
Thus, with this in mind, I went to the realm of dystopian classics of my high school career that I vividly remembered and could recall, ones that I jumped to the forfront of my memory. Books who also shared a distinct theme and take of the exploration of what it means to be an individual.

ANTHEM

Anthem, a novelette by Ayn Rand explored the theme of the realization of individuality as well as an escape of an established society in persuit of ones own beliefs. The overpowering golden yellow color pallet highlights and refers back to the most dominent color that the main character
references, that of his love interests hair. Hand rendered imagery showcases and hints and distinct imagery and symbold mentioned in the book to give viewers a visual representation of what they are to expect to find whilst reading.

BRAVE NEW WORLD

Brave New World is a dystopian social science fiction novel by English author Aldous Huxley, written in 1931 and published in 1932. Largely set in a futuristic World State, whose citizens are environmentally engineered into an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific advancements in reproductive technology, psychological manipulation and
classical conditioning that are combined to make a dystopian society which is challenged by only a single individual: the story's protagonist Like the Anthem book cover, all imagery is hand rendered bassed off key imagery as well as symbols that appear throughout the novel itself. These images run across every aspect of the book cover to create a complete look.
